The Return of the King
Luke 19:28-44
April 13, 2014

Introduction

I. A fulfillment of prophecy. Luke 19:28-35; Zechariah 9:9

II. The long awaited King. Luke 19:36-40; Psalm 118:26

III. A King who loves deeply. Luke 19:41-42; Psalm 118:1-4, 29

IV. A King who will not endure unbelief forever. Luke 19:43-44

Questions for reflection:
• In a democratic republic, the idea of a king and the benefits of a good king, can be difficult to appreciate. Why is the coming of Jesus as a King to be received as good news?
• What does the mode of transportation (a donkey) tell us about this King?
• What does Zechariah 9:10 mean when it says, “and He (the coming King) shall speak peace to the nations?” What does that mean to you personally?
• Why does Jesus weep over Jerusalem? What is it that triggers the predicted judgement of Jesus? What should we learn from this?
