Samson the Nazirite

Judges 14:5-20

November 12, 2017

Introduction:

I.   Samson the Nazirite. Judges 13:5, 7, Numbers 6:1-8

II.  Does Samson violate his vow in his contact with the dead lion? Judges 14:8-9, Numbers 6:6-7

III. Does Samson violate his vow by drinking at the feast?  Judges 14:10

IV. Samson’s riddle. Judges 14:19, Leviticus 26:7-8, 17

 Questions for reflection:

  • Growing up and living as a Nazirite would have made Samson stand out and look very
different to those around him.  How does the Nazirite vow point to the kind of devotion
to God and His glory that was meant to be cultivated by all the Israelites?
  • Why is it hard but necessary that Christians manifest a different way of thinking
and living in the world today?
  • Do you see evidence of the Holy Spirit at work in your heart and life? If not, are there
areas of your life that you need to change or confess with repentance to the Lord?
